Parafield Airport Preliminary Draft Master Plan 2024

Public consultation for the Parafield Airport Preliminary Draft Master Plan 2024 (PDMP) has now closed.

Thank you to our community members, airport stakeholders and organisations who provided feedback on the PDMP during the public comment period which occurred between 6 January 2024 and 4 April 2024. Your input plays a crucial role in shaping the future development of Parafield Airport. Following conclusion of this period, a detailed analysis of the matters raised in submissions has been undertaken and the Draft Master Plan prepared. This was provided to the Commonwealth Minister for Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Local Government for approval on 7 June 2024.

About the Master Plan

The PDMP sets out PAL’s plans for the next 20 years, with a detailed focus on the next 8 years. The PDMP outlines the vision for the development of Parafield Airport to support aviation activities, commercial development, environmental management and infrastructure delivery. It includes a Development Program, Environment Strategy and Ground Transport Plan as well as an update of aviation forecasts and aircraft noise exposure.

Significance of the Airport

Parafield Airport plays an essential role in the economic prosperity and development of Northern Adelaide and South Australia through creating jobs and supporting businesses. In 2022, Parafield Airport supported 2,570 jobs and contributed an estimated $354.8 million to South Australia’s Gross State Product. The contribution of Parafield Airport to the Northern Adelaide Region is estimated to be 1,670 jobs and $216.9 million towards the region’s Gross Regional Product.

Parafield Airport Master Plan 2017

Parafield Airport’s Master Plan 2017 was approved by the Federal Minster for Infrastructure, Transport and Regional Development on 19 January 2018.

Once the draft 2024 Master Plan is approved by the Minister, it will supersede the 2017 Master Plan and will outline the long-term strategic vision through to 2043.
